Alice Druesilla (Drue) Landes took her last breath on earth at 12 a.m. February 11, 2023 and opened her eyes to see Jesus after battling dementia for 3 years.
Drue was born July 9, 1932, in Grady County, to Marshall & Elsie (Archa) Key. She attended Minco schools and graduated in 1950. She put herself through nursing school in Shawnee, OK, by babysitting. She was also involved with the Institude of Reflexology and had hundreds of patients through the years, still working with some of them passed her 85th birthday.
Drue was first married to Harvey Lewis and they had 1 son, David, who resides in Mustang, OK.
Drue married Kenneth Landes on May 5, 1973, adding 2 step-daughters, Sheila & Kathy to her family. She quickly became a valued part of the Landes family, not only for loving her husband, also for her devotion to everyone else. Whether camping, working in the hayfield or just hanging out, Drue was involved. She and Kenneth loved going to Branson, and more often than not, took family with them. They had a small farm in the middle of Braum’s dairy where they raised a garden and canned umpteen quarts of veggies through the years. She also lovingly tolerated the menagerie of animals, from dogs, cats, goats, a donkey, and chickens to possums, racoons and various birds, Kenneth collected through the years. She was a true partner to her husband.
In addition to camping and traveling, Drue loved to crochet and made many afgans for family members through the years. She loved nature and treasured spending time in God’s creation. She was part of the First Church of God and volunteered in numerous positions in the church. She lived most of her life in the Oklahoma City area, moving to Bartlesville with her husband in 2020 to be closer to her step-daughter, Kathy Landes, and niece & nephew, Cindy & Kent Kuehler. Kenneth & Drue lived with Kathy til his death in January 2021, and it became necessary to move her into the memory care unit of Green Country Village. She lived there until moving to The Journey Home the day before she moved to her eternal Heavenly home. We are extremely grateful to the staff at both Green Country and The Journey Home for taking such good care of this special lady.
