Barbara Ann Cox, 80 year old former resident of Grove, passed away on February 15, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Barbara was born on September 14, 1939 in Spadra, Arkansas. She was the daughter of William and Ella Mae (Caldwell) Owens. Barbara was united in marriage to Roscoe Cox, and was married 38 years before his passing away. Barbara worked for Empire Gas as a secretary and a certified licensed propane inspector. Barbara was the first women in Oklahoma to receive such license. She also worked as a hotel manager for Grand Motel, Hickory Inn and Honey Creek. Barbara enjoyed reading and studying the Bible with her best friend Monet. She loved to go out and eat with family and friends, and was always ready for a full day of shopping in Joplin or Tulsa.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roscoe, her sister Glenda Rutherford and brother in law Bob Rutherford. She is survived by her children; Christopher Deitz, Paul Deitz and Julie Deitz-Butler and son in law Jodis Butler. Barbara was close to her nephew Todd Rutherford and his daughter Katie Loyall and husband Sean, and their two boys: Fisher and Koy. Also Kate’s mother Susan VanWinkle and husband Wade.
An open visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 both at the Grove Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
