Betty Lou Hazel Frye, 96, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, peacefully. She was born on July 21, 1926, in Coodys Bluff, Oklahoma, to Preston Alonzo Lakey and Ella B. Mable (Futhey) Lakey.

Betty grew up in the Nowata area, receiving her education at Nowata Public Schools. She moved to Dewey for awhile and returned to Nowata in 1976. Betty was a long-time caretaker of many special family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, and decorating her loved one’s graves for each holiday. Betty was also a long-time member of the Nowata Church of God, and she was very ready to get to Heaven.

Betty is preceded in death by her spouse; Pearl Eugene Frye in 1970, her sons; Mitchell Frye, Danny Frye, and Gene Frye, and by all her brothers and sisters and numerous other family members and friends.

Betty is survived by her daughter; Shirley L. Hale, her son; Gary Frye and wife, Kristi, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with many other family members and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
