Betty Hinkle

March 15, 1936 — April 9, 2011

Betty P. Hinkle went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa. She was born in Spavinaw to James and Ollie Johnson on May 15, 1936. She married James W. Hinkle on November 8, 1954. Betty was a member of the Open Door Community Church. She loved her family and her church family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Her prayer was her family would know the Lord. She worked at Bird Island for many years as well as for Elder Care and the Ketchum Laundry Mat before retiring. She loved reading her bible and talking about the Lord to anyone. She loved flowers and gardening. Preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years James W. Hinkle, her parents James & Ollie Johnson, one son Gray Steve Hinkle, on granddaughter Cindy Johnson, one grandson Denver Ray Hinkle, one great grandson Huston Williams, two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include two sons, James R. Hinkle and wife Barbara of Vinita, Hank Hinkle and wife Carla of Vinita, one daughter Betty Skaggs and husband Mark of Afton, 7 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 8 great granddaughters, 16 great grandsons, one great-great granddaughter, five brothers: Elmer Jenkings of Iowa, Sonny, Rufus, Manuel, and Stanley Johnson of the Grand Lake area, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Open Door Community Church with Rev. Donald Bieberdorf and Rev. Stan Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Ketchum Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
