Betty Longan

Betty L. Longan passed from this life into Heaven on February 20, 2010. Betty was born April 11, 1930 in Pleasant Valley, OK to Roy and Lula Robertson Barker. She married Robert Longan on January 17, 1948 in Wellington, Kansas. They lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma until moving to Grove in 1951. She was an accomplished artist. Her work included China Painting, Oil Painting, Textiles, and Acrylics. She studied oil painting under Charles Banks Wilson. Betty was a member of the First Christian Church since 1951 where she was a member of the choir for over 47 years. She taught bible school, organized church dinners, performed in church plays, directed and made props for church Christmas programs. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother, a Home Room mother, Church Secretary, a member of the JOY class. She still always found the time for family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, Verlin Barker, sister, Alma Donnell, grandson, Brandon Gault, great-grandson, Blake Longan, and daughter-in-law, Judy Longan. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Robert Longan of the home; sister Wilma Vassaur and husband Leamiel of Henryetta; one son, Darrell Longan of Grove; one daughter, Diana Gault and husband Jerry of Grove; Five grandchildren, Matt Gault and wife Robin, Clint Longan and wife Teresa, Denise Gault, Brian Longan and wife Tessa, all of Grove and Ty Gault of Wichita, Kansas; Four great-grandchildren, Levi Longan, Laramie Gault, Cason Gault, and Bryce Longan; one nephew, Larry Vassaur and wife Vickey of Shawnee, Oklahoma and their children Darrin, Amy and Kim. Betty's bubbly personality, spontaneous humor and brilliant smile will be greatly missed. She was a person who always found something to smile about. Even after years of suffering she never once complained. She found joy in life and her friends and family found joy in knowing her. Visitation will be 6:00PM - 8:00PM Tuesday evening at Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday February 24, 2010 at First Christian Church with Reverend Jim Pelley and Dr. Wayne Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Butler Cemetery.
