Betty Mayes

April 17, 1942 — November 6, 2016

Betty A. (Drywater) Mayes left this world to meet her savior November 6, 2016. Betty was surrounded by her husband of 44 years John R. (Bob) Mayes and family. She was born April 17, 1942 the daughter of Charles Drywater and Pauline (Marshall) Drywater Claremore, Oklahoma. Betty started her teaching and school counseling career in 1972 at Barnsdall, Oklahoma later moving to the Ketchum school system. Betty completed her counseling career in Henderson, Nevada retiring in 2007. Betty and Bob moved to Grand Lake Towne in 2007 where they made many friends. Betty and Bob recently moved to their current residence to be near her step-daughter Nancy and grandson's Preston and Aaron. Betty enjoyed helping her husband raising cattle, collecting monkeys and beanie babies. She enjoyed listening and helping her grandsons The Mayes County Boys with their music. Betty is survived by her husband Bob of the home, Son Scott Lamb of North Fort Lauderdale, Florida, daughter Mary Ellen (Buffy) Smoke of Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Step-son Bobby Mayes, and Step-daughter Nancy Mayes of Vinita. Betty had Fourteen Grandchildren, nine Great Grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Charles Drywater and Pauline (Marshall) Drywater, one brother Norman Drywater and a step-son John Mayes. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Ketchum Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder John Moyer and Jerry Mayes officiating.
