Beverly Fetty

March 20, 1939 — August 25, 2015

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Beverly Josephine (Nieminen) Rowe Fetty was born March 20, 1939 in Duluth, Minnesota, to Catherine and Tauno Nieminen. Beverly was raised in Esko, Minnesota and graduated from Esko High School in 1957. After high school, Beverly continued her education at St Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. She graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1959. Then in April of 1959 she married Robert Rowe, son of Charles and Helmi Rowe of Esko, Minnesota. Six children were born of their union. Margaret (Dan) Watson of Plano, Texas; Brenda (James) Rynes of Blue Springs, Missouri; Susan (Donald) Patterson of Cushing, Oklahoma; Diana (Michael) Coe of Talala, Oklahoma; and Philip (Sarah) Rowe of Nowata, Oklahoma. Another son, Steven (Carol) Rowe of Nowata, Oklahoma predeceased Beverly. Initially the Rowes continued to live in the Esko area. Then, in 1964, the Rowes bought a dairy farm in Hinckley, Minnesota. The next 9 years were spent raising their young family and trying to earn a living from farming and part time nursing. In 1973 the Rowe family moved to Nowata, Oklahoma. Beverly continued to work as an LPN. She initially worked at Nowata Hospital but then in 1974 she took a position at Memorial Hospital in Bartlesville. Those first nights on a urology medical/surgical unit were the beginning of a long rewarding career with Jane Phillips Medical Center. When the opportunity arose for LPN's to go back to school, Beverly attended Rogers State College. In 1992 she earned an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and became a Registered Nurse. As an RN she worked in CCU and then in Hospice. At Jane Phillips Hospice Beverly was able to fully express her passion for helping others by assisting families with end of life care. Her interest in hospice led her to seek and maintain a certification in Palliative Care Nursing. In January of 1993 Beverly married Harold Fetty. Harold had two children, Harold Fetty Jr. and Chrystell Dean. Beverly welcomed both as her own. Beverly enjoyed being active in the Bartlesville community. She was a member of St. James Parish and was active with the Parish Nurse role for several years along with her dear friends Eva Boatwright and Judy Pecher. She was also a member of the Santera Club. After retirement she joined the pastoral care team at Jane Phillips Hospital. She helped many citizens learn to speak English through the Bartlesville Public Library Literacy program. She was a member of the "Talking about Books" book club. She helped families develop better lives through education as a member and president of the Acorn chapter of the Washington County, Oklahoma Home and Community Education program. Within this group she made many more close friends. Beverly loved living in Bartlesville amongst neighbors that were also friends. Beverly is survived by her seven children and her two sisters, Mary (Butch) Doble of Carlton, Minnesota, and Kathy (Wayne) Michaud of Cloquet, Minnesota, and her eight grandchildren, Amber Bohannon of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Kathy LeGrand of Fort Polk, Louisiana, Merette Dean- Goff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rigele Dean of Tyler, Texas, David Coe of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jennifer and Christopher Rynes of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Bobby Rowe of Nowata, Oklahoma. Beverly had four great-grandchildren: Ethan Bohannon, Harper Dean, Skyla LeGrand, and Sutton Goff. Beverly is also survived by her dear friend, Fred Dunn who resides at Tall Grass Estates in Bartlesville. Beverly's greatest pleasure was her family and friends all of which she had active relationships with. She enjoyed having her calendar full of activities such as trips to visit children and grandchildren, an evening at book club, or driving a friend to an appointment. She looked forward to travel and visited family and friends in Finland, Canada, Scotland & Germany. She traveled extensively with her husband, Harold and with other family members throughout the United States. These trips often included visits to family and friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Rowe, her second husband, Harold Fetty, and her son Steven Rowe. The family would like to thank all of the friends that helped ease the pain as Beverly ended her earthly journey. The food, flowers, hugs & condolences were greatly appreciated. The Comforting Hands Hospice of Bartlesville assisted Beverly to enjoy being in her own home with family at the end of her life. Special thanks to her care givers: Gretchen, Fay Ann, Jenny, Nancy and especially Tyra for the loving care that they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Martha's Task, www.marthastask.com at 718 S. Johnstone Ave., Bartlesville 74003.
