Billy Joe Bellamy, 71-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at 12:20p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2006 at his residence in Nowata. Billy Joe Bellamy was born October 16, 1934 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Clifford Bellamy and Finis E. Hall-Bellamy. Mr. Bellamy attended Nowata schools and on March 2, 1955 he married Anna Belle Woolman. Mr. Bellamy worked for Forrest Oil and later spent four years working as a Deputy for the Nowata County Sheriff's Office. He went on to work for Peabody Coal Company operating heavy equipment and working security in his later years there. Mr. Bellamy also served a period of time in the National Guard. Mr. Bellamy loved outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and camping. He also spent many hours playing dominoes and watching wrestling. Mr. Bellamy flew airplanes and built, as well as raced, stock cars. But perhaps what he enjoyed most was visiting and joking with friends and family. Mr. Bellamy is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Tyler of Vinita and Peggy Sue Bellamy of Nowata; by a son, Samuel Allen Bellamy of Nowata; by 12 grandchildren; by 12 great-grandchildren; by two half-brothers, Dennis Bellamy of Delaware and David Bellamy of Delaware; one half-sister, Donna Bellamy of Delaware; Special Friends, Kenneth and Mary Satterwhite and Baby (his dog); as well as many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Finis; by his wife, Anna Belle Bellamy; and by two brothers, Howard Lee Bellamy and Bobby Bellamy.
