Billy Stand Sr.

Billy Joe Stand, Sr. 74, of Delaware went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Billy was born May 11, 1934 in Stilwell, OK to Richard and Katie (Chair) Stand. Billy graduated from Nowata high school and was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp from May 27, 1954 until May 27, 1956. He married Trojia Jayne Alspach on August 15, 1957 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Billy was a man that was loved and respected by everyone that knew him. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. Billy has left a huge hole in the hearts and lives of those that knew him. He will be missed in so many ways and in so many lives. Billy is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Trojia, his son Billy Joe and wife Peggy of Delaware, his daughter, Stella Jayne Stand of Delaware, his son Rickey Dean and wife Tracey of Nowata, and his daughter Lorie Darlene and husband Jimmy Bell of Nowata. Grandsons, Josh, Matt, and Cody Stand, Adam Mueller, all of Delaware, Zach Stand, Joel and Jack Straw and Blake Bell all of Nowata, granddaughters Christina Mueller of Delaware, Lesley Straw and Jordan Stand and Brook Bell all of Nowata; two great-grandchildren, Laylah Jayne Straw of Nowata and Landon Travis Stand of Delaware, and his brother Richard (Sonny) Stand of Jackson, Mississippi, numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Katie Stand, two sisters, Mary Moore and Gladys Harrison. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Ball Cemetery in Childers, Oklahoma with Pastor Dean Bridges officiating. Billy's grandsons: Josh Stand, Matt Stand, Cody Stand, Zach Stand, Adam Mueller, Joel Straw and Blake Bell will honor their grandfather by caring his casket. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Jackson Straw, Jimmy Bell and Orie Tatum. Visitation for Mr. Stand will be Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Benjamin Funeral Home in Nowata, Oklahoma.
