Bradley Doss Russell, Sr., 77, Nowata resident, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 in New Mexico. He was born September 14, 1937 in Watova, OK to Edward and Dorsey Mae (Pearce) Russell. Bradley grew up in Nowata and was a 1956 graduate of Nowata High School. Soon after, he joined the Navy and married Betty Adams in Delaware on May 9, 1957. They moved to Ventura, CA to live on the naval base. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy and moved to Delaware where he resided and owned a dairy farm until 1975. He began driving trucks, first for Allen's Feed, then Bellco, Elliott Trucking of Vinita and for Bellmar. Bradley was a longtime deacon at the Delaware Baptist Church and later became a member of the Nowata First Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and leatherworking, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Bradley is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; three children, Bradley Russell, Jr. of Nowata, Beckey and her husband Kevin Tharp of Childers, Barbie and her husband bob Hicks of Clayton, New Mexico; a sister, Martha and her husband Paul Witty of Delaware; six grandchildren, Alisha and her husband Nick Rupert of Liberty KS., tony Spohn and his wife Jessie of Panhandle, TX., Cassie Alspach of Delaware, OK., Dustin Spohn and his wife Whitney of Blanchard, OK., Amber Alspach of Childers, OK., Elizabeth and her husband Jonathon Hawkins of Canyon, TX., and fourteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorsey Russell.
