Carolyn Joan Warren (Lawrence) peacefully joined our Lord on His day of birth, December 25, 2019 from her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. “And she fell asleep, not forever but just for the moment between the death of her body and the awakening of her spirit in the radiance of grace where she belonged.”
Carolyn was born to Harvey and Helena Cobb in Norman, Oklahoma on August 10, 1928. As an army daughter she lived in Wichita Falls, Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Denver, Colorado.
Mom met the love of her life, Pete Warren, in college at the Oklahoma University where she became a member of Gamma Phi Beta and later a president of Panhellenic for Gamma Phi Beta. Her times at OU and in her sorority were some of her most enjoyable and she reflected on them often. She earned a Bachelor of Business Science degree in June, 1950 as a Member of Beta Gamma Sigma, a business honor society.
Carolyn married Edwin (Pete) Warren, from Fletcher Oklahoma, in August, 1950. They moved to Bartlesville in 1951, employed by Phillips Petroleum. In 1955 Carolyn and Pete, with their 2 young children, moved to Borger, Texas. She made a beautiful life with her family, enjoying social activities and the arts. Carolyn also enjoyed her bridge club, golfing with Pete, and was an avid reader. Carolyn and Pete moved back to Bartlesville in 1969 where she became involved in the Bartlesville community, St. Luke’s Episcopal church and service league. After Pete passed away, she married Dr. Forest Lawrence and enjoyed many years of travel and a loving relationship until his death.
Her gift to all was her internal and external beauty. In 1949, at the University of Oklahoma, she was named Sooner Beauty Queen by Van Heflin. She took great pride in her health and appearance. Later in her life, her internal beauty shined. With deep devotion and love for her Lord and Savior, she read and studied feverishly. Her relationship with God was special, as she now enjoys His eternal presence.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Harvey Cobb; sister, Jerrie Cobb; love of her life, husband Pete Warren; and husband Forest Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Dobson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Linda’s daughter Kim Bauer, her husband Brian Bauer and their 3 children Jack, Charlie and Bella; and Linda’s Son, Ryan Dobson, his wife Ariane Dobson and their 2 children, Drew and Ivy. Carolyn is also survived by her son, Steve Warren and his wife Monika, of Arlington, Texas, Steve’s son Justin Warren and wife Melissa Warren and their 3 children Zowe, Derrick and Quorra; Steve’s daughter Crystal Kersten and her husband, Kyle Kersten and their 2 children Brock and Grayson, and Micah Travis and his wife Taylor Travis. Carolyn deeply cared for her 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
