Charles Daugherty

Jay, Oklahoma Charles "Kurt" Daugherty Kurt Daugherty of Jay, Ok. died Friday February 16, 2007 at the Freeman Health Care at Joplin, Mo. He was 72. Kurt was born March 12, 1934 to Charley and Iva (Turner) Daugherty in Delaware County, Oklahoma. He worked at the Jay Public Schools for over 20 years. He was a great baseball player, playing minor league in New Jersey and in Delaware County. Kurt married Wynena Chewey August 8, 1974 at Baldwin City, Ks. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Claude Daugherty, and William Daugherty. Three sisters: Mary Daugherty, Minnie Feather and Allie Jane Daugherty. Survivors includes his wife Wynena Daugherty of Jay. Two daughters: Karma Sapp and husband Gerald of Kenwood, Ok., and Melissa Daugherty of Jay, Ok. One sister, Wallora Kingfisher of Jay, Ok. One brother: Allen Daugherty of Jay, Ok. Two special nieces: Ella Shambaugh, and Mary Chewey both of Jay, Ok. Four grandchildren: Jeremiah Daugherty, Isaiah Sapp, Allyson Sapp, and Trenton Studie. 55 neices and nephews, 105 great nieces and nephews, and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday February 20, 2007 at the Mt. Hermon Church at Jay, Ok. Rev. John Gonzales to officiate. Interment will follow at the O'Field Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 6:00 PM Monday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home at Jay, Ok.
