Charles Leonard GrothOlson, age 55, a resident of Bartlesville Died Sunday July 16, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Charlie was born March 12, 1951 in Hudson, South Dakota the son of Leonard Groth and Barbara Meyers Groth. In 1961 he and his family moved to Estherville, IA. He graduated from Estherville High in 1969 and attended Denver Technical School. Charlie worked several different jobs; he was a mechanic for twenty years, sold furniture and worked in a feed mill. He enjoyed bicycling and this is how he met his wife Leann (Lee) and were united in marriage on February 29, 1976. They made their home in Cedar Falls, Iowa while Lee finished her degree then moved to Gillette, Wyoming where he worked as an auto mechanic and a field engineer for Cooper Clark Engineering. God called Charlie into full time ministry, so they moved to Bartlesville, where he attended Oklahoma Wesleyan University and graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1985. The family moved to Spencer, Nebraska where he took the Pulpit and served until 1987 when Charlie was called to the Mission Field in Papua New Guinea serving until to 1991. After serving four years in missions, Charlie spent a few years in Billings, MT before taking a pulpit in Terry, MT and serving from 93 till 98. His final pastorate was in Rice Lake, WI where he served until 2005. Charlie and Lee returned to Bartlesville to retire vocationally from the ministry, and establish the GrothOlson Suzuki Piano Studio. Most recently touched lives ministering through concern, City Ride, and his Christian family at St. Luke's. God has used Charlie to minister to all who have come in contact with him. Always a seeker and servant, his closeness to God, his family and friends was a hallmark to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Lee of the home, sons, Jesse and wife Ginny of Downey, CA, James of Chicago and Jared stationed aboard the U.S.S. Nevada in Bangor, WA, two sisters, Becky Wiseman and Rachel Rierson both of Estherville, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Martin Groth. Memorial services will be Tuesday July 18, 2006 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 7:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. T. Lee Stephens officiating. Arrangements by Neekamp -Luginbuel Funeral home.
