Charles Milton Phillips, 82-year-old Vinita resident passed away June 01, 2020 at Grand Villa Nursing Home in Grove, OK. He was born on February 04, 1938 in Murphy, OK to Wendell T. Phillips, Sr. and Elizabeth (Davis) Phillips. Charles attended Attucks High School in Vinita, and later served his country in the United States Navy. He married Barbara Gaylord in 1962 in Coffeyville, KS. Charles worked for Boeing in Wichita, KS, Delta Airlines in Los Angeles, CA, and after returning home to Vinita, he went to work for Wal Mart. He enjoyed being outside, listening to the blues, going to the rodeo in Vinita, and had a love for horses.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Phillips Sr.; mother, Elizabeth “Davis” Phillips; brother, Wendell Phillips Jr.; two sisters Carlene Stokes, Okla Mae Hicks and one granddaughter Mikah.
Surviving family includes his children, Rodney Phillips, Vanessa Jones of Dallas, TX, Charles “Chucky” Phillips of Dallas, Tx, Heather Chappelle of Los Angeles, CA; twenty three grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Yvonne Phillips, Betty Twitty , Jean Spires all of Wichita, KS, Martha Phillips of Midwest City, OK, Helen Taylor, Patricia Fox both of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Clarence Phillips of Springfield, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and a special friend Jerry Tyler.
Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 12, 2020 in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Farris Downing officiating. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery.
