Charlote Smith

November 20, 1932 — March 30, 2016

Charlotte Anne Smith, 83-year-old Nowata resident passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Ruben S. and Grace Anne (Joiner) Blood on November 20, 1932. A graduate of Fayetteville High School, Charlotte moved to Nowata in 1949 to marry Jack R. Smith and together they raised four children. Later they divorced. Charlotte was a member of the First Baptist Church Nowata for almost 60 years, teaching a ladies Sunday school. When the church added a sound board in the 80s Charlotte learned how to work it and ran it for many years. Charlotte worked for the Nowata Star, The Mannford News, and The Tulsa World newspapers. She was also an AP stringer and a freelance journalist for over 40 years and a regular contributor to Farm Talk Magazine. She recently published the book "Murder, Murder Everywhere" and was a contributor to "ChickenSoup for the Soul: The Cat Did What?" She was a member of the Oklahoma Writers Federation Inc., and the Bartlesville Wordweavers. Charlotte for a time had her own photography business. Charlotte was a very loving mother that held a special place in her heart for all her family, friends and especially her cats. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Charlotte in death are her parents, Ruben and Grace Blood. Survivors include her children Troy Smith and wife Susie, of Acdon, California, Trent Smith and wife Donna, of Woodward, Oklahoma, Tracey Smith and wife Pam, of Stigler, Oklahoma, Christine Denise Jarmola and husband Darek, of Bartlesville; grandchildren, Tawna Brockett, Dustin Smith, Debbie Aguilar, Nicole Abel-Miller, Shelly Ballard, Shane Smith, Darku Jarmola, Kasia Jarmola; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Ruben Blood and his wife Wanda, of Springdale, Arkansas; many other relatives and a host of friends.
