Connie Mayes

Connie Morene (Murchison) Mayes, 78 year old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on September 17, 2019.

Connie was born on August 16, 1941 in Sickles, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of Joseph Donald and Clara Belle (Smith) Murchison.  She was united in marriage to A.J. Mayes on February 12, 1971 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Connie started her career with the Postal Service in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.  She worked in several locations before she retired from the Post Office in Jay, Oklahoma.  Connie enjoyed watching Westerns, working puzzles and tending to her yard.  But most of all, Connie loved spending time with her family and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband A.J., a daughter Candy L. Rowe and her granddaughter Madison “Maddycakes” Mayes.

She is survived by four children: Tracy Rowe, Penny Rowe, James Ashley Mayes and Jamie Morene Mayes. She was so proud of her three grandchildren; Samantha L. Smith and husband Cameron, Whitney Holt and Ashley Mayes.  Connie is also survived by five siblings, Arlene Lawson and husband Buddy, Jerry Murchison and wife Mary Beth, Starr Barkmann, Marlyn Tyrell and husband Steve, and Zandra Fourie and husband Mike.  Connie was a beloved Aunt to 10 nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove with Pastor Sean Worley officiating.  Connie will be laid to rest in the Olympus North Cemetery.
