Daniel Insalaco

Benjamin Funeral Service - Daniel Eugene Insalaco, 89, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Osage Nursing Home in Nowata, Oklahoma. He was born January 13, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, to Matthew and Mary (Glitta) Insalaco. Daniel graduated from Thorton High School in Blue Island, Illinois. From 1942 to 1946 he served his country as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. In 1946 Daniel married the love of his life Mary Louise Swider in Indiana. He was a general contractor building many homes in the Chicago area. During the oil boom he and his son Matt started Black Gold Drilling and were involved in all aspects of the oil and gas industry until the death of his son Matt. He continued operating his own leases eventually opening Dan's Supply where he bought, sold, and repaired used oil field equipment. He retired in 2007 and helped his daughters, Diane and Cheri, at the Maple Street Greenhouse transplanting plants and greeting customers. Dan enjoyed golfing, gardening and watching Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Bears football teams. He was a very loving and caring husband, and wonderful father, grandfather and family man. He will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Insalaco is survived by three children; Margaret Sumrall of Nowata, Diane Harper and husband Joe of Nowata, Cherie Morgan and husband Wes of Nowata; ten grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Walter Insalaco, Matthew Insalaco, Florence Ledger, Rosemary Drafke, and Carol Insalaco, all of the Chicago area; many other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Mary Insalaco, his wife Mary, one son; Matthew Insalaco; one grandson, Matthew Lindner; two brothers, Samuel and Edward Insalaco and two sisters, Anna Insalaco and Carmella Kline. A special thanks to Dr. David Caughell, Physician's Assistant Sheryl Neely, the Osage Nursing home staff, and to the Hospice Advantage for their loving care and concern for Dan and his family. The family suggests donations to the 10-33 wheelchair van, Nowata, Oklahoma.
