Luginbuel Funeral Home - Vinita - 918-256-5555... David Boan Deffenbaugh, 76, went to meet his wife Marie in Heaven on February 15, 2016 after an extended illness. Born August 17, 1939 in Pryor, OK to Fred and Grace (Boan) Deffenbaugh, David graduated from Jasper (MO) High School. Following graduation, David worked in southwest Missouri as a delivery man for Pepsi-Cola and played semi-professional baseball. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He married (Anna) Marie Robison on May 29, 1964 in Chelsea. The newlyweds made their home in Vinita where he worked for Public Service Company of Oklahoma. In David's service to PSO, the couple also lived in Hinton, Anadarko, Hugo, and Verdigris. She preceded him in death just a few months ago on October 12, 2015. David worked for PSO for 37 years, starting as a pole hole digger. He advanced to lineman, serviceman, and district manager ending his career in the company's economic development department. After retirement from PSO, he worked for the City of Vinita and Rogers County Industrial Development Authority. David was a tireless volunteer for his communities and for Oklahoma, literally traveling the world to encourage people to invest in the state. Among his proudest accomplishments were being named to the Governor's Team of Economic Development and Leadership Oklahoma and also graduating from the Economic Development Institute. But his most treasured accomplishment was his family. He especially loved being a Grandad. He and Marie loved their retirement farm and took great pleasure in showing their grandsons how to tend to the chickens, garden, and berry patch. David loved the outdoors, airplanes, mowing, fishing, and playing golf. He loved to tell stories and jokes, give advice, and never met a stranger. David and Marie enjoyed traveling but were always glad to return to the state they loved. David is survived by daughter Misty and husband Mark Bingham of Vinita and grandsons Riley and Brady Bingham. David is also survived by one sister Louise Smith of Pryor, sister-in-law Bonnie Deffenbaugh of Adair and Jan Deffenbaugh of Claremore, in-laws Jessie Penick of Lawton, Barbara Robison of Big Cabin, Wilma Fraley and husband George of Chelsea, Stan Robison and wife Virginia of Rocky, OK and Sue Milam and husband John of Chelsea, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends Jack and Nina Frazier. David was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, sisters Faye Mitchell, Ina Bruce, Mary Buffington and brothers Frank and Ben Deffenbaugh. In lieu of flowers, the family asks monetary donations be made in his memory to the Vinita Ag Boosters, c/o Vinita High School, 801 North Adair, as he was a proud member and supporter of Future Farmers of America. Visitation will be for 6-8 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at Cowboy Junction Church with Pastor Bruce Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Chelsea Cemetery.
