David Kennedy

David "Trent" Kennedy, 71, of Afton, Oklahoma, died on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Grove Nursing Center. He was born January 17, 1936 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Hallie Kennedy and Lela Bell Brummett. Trent was a 1953 graduate of Okmulgee High School and a graduate of Northeast Oklahoma State University. He served 22 months and 20 days as a code operator in the 8th infantry division of the U.S. Army. He was married to Charlene "Cheno" Hogan on July 4, 1958. Trent worked 30 years for the U.S. Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service (ASCS), serving in Atoka and Okmulgee from 1969 until his retirement in 1986 in Mayes County. He lived the last 14 years of his life on Grand Lake, where he enjoyed fishing, golf and was an avid football fan. He is survived by his loving wife Charlene "Cheno" of the home, brother: Dan Kennedy and wife Sherry of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, daughter: Denise Deaton and husband Steve of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, sons: John Kennedy and wife Rhondi of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and David Kennedy and wife Kelly of Huntsville, Alabama; there are nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Philip Kennedy of Pryor, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Good Shephard Hospice: 2084 South Main Street, Grove ,Oklahoma 74344. Memorial Services for David Trent Kennedy will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Grove, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Hamill officiating. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
