Deborah Gale Faubion

December 16, 1949 — October 12, 2023

Durant, Oklahoma

Deborah Gale Faubion, 73, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed away on October 12, 2023, while surrounded by her family.

Deborah was born on December 16, 1949, to Raymond and Virginia Birdsong in Guthrie, Oklahoma. After graduating from Cushing High School in 1968, she went on to study Education at Northeastern Oklahoma State University.

After graduation, Deborah worked as a teacher and librarian for over 40 years. She obtained her Masters in Library Science and was librarian at Bennington public schools until her retirement.  Deborah was passionate about teaching and loved what she did for a living.

In 1966, she met Ron Faubion, and they wed in 1967, going on to have 3 children, Shelly, a doctor in Newcastle, Mitsi a doctor in Stringtown, and Jennifer a manager at the Oklahoma Blood Institute.

When Deborah had Shelly, she dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Deborah excelled at propping up her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was supporting her daughters through devastating losses or cheering them on through softball, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others.

Deborah was passionate about playing games and completing puzzles. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found at the softball fields cheering on her husband and all of the players she called her “bonus children”. We will miss her greatly.

Deborah was preceded in death by father Raymond Birdsong, mother Virginia Birdsong, brother Robert Birdsong, and granddaughter Olivia Simmons. She is survived by her husband Ron Faubion, sister Sheila and spouse Bruce Ryan, daughter Shelly and spouse Charleene Faubion, daughter Mitsi Faubion and daughter Jennifer and spouse Dean Simmons.  Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Morgan, Zachary, Seth, Skyler, Katie and Austin and 1 great-grandson, Lucas.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 2711 Forrest Circle, Durant, OK, 74701. There will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm in the Oak Room at Choctaw Grand Casino and Resort in Durant, Oklahoma.
