Dennis Guthrie

Dennis Leroy Guthrie passed away at the age of 69 years on Friday January 16, 2009. He was born on June 19, 1939 the son of Arthur Mike Guthrie and Ida Hodges Guthrie, he was born and raised east of Watova, Oklahoma. Dennis was educated thru the eighth grade in the Watova Schools before completing his education in Nowata Schools. After his graduation he moved to Antlers, Ok and worked as a Livestock inspector for the Federal Government. He returned back to Nowata and bought a farm and started raising and running Quarter Horses. Dennis would spend his summers in Oklahoma and his winters in Florida. He moved to Chelsea, Ok and then to Artesia New Mexico where he helped his son graduate high school and join the United States Navy. Then returned to Oklahoma to be near family. Mr. Guthrie is survived by his Son Jamie Dee Guthrie and his wife Missy of Virginia Beach, VA, his mother Ida M. Guthrie, one brother Donald Gene Guthrie and his wife Janis, three sisters Karen Slack and her husband Ben, Kathy Aymer and Kim Taylor and her husband Kevin, Several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mr. Guthrie will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata, with interment to follow in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery.
