Luginbuel Funeral Home - Vinita - 918-256-5555........ DeWayne Franks, 79 year old, prominent business man of Big Cabin, passed away at his home on November 1, 2014. He was surrounded by his family. Mr. Franks owned and operated Travel Plaza Service Center, first in Ft. Smith, Arkansas then for forty-six years as Big Cabin Travel Plaza in Big Cabin as well as a long distance international trucking company, Franks and Son, Inc. from 1972-2002. Mr. Franks was born at the home of his maternal grandparents in Booneville, Arkansas, October 18, 1935. His parents were Ralph Franks and Verna Lacy Franks. He was married to Kathrena Harrell, of Port Gibson, Mississippi, on November 21, 1953, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Caulksville, Arkansas. Survivors include his wife, Kathrena of the home, three daughters, Lisa Helm and husband Dwight, Gina Gammill and husband Thomas, Tara Hargrove and husband Nolan. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Trace Helm and wife Alesha, Denton Gammill, Paige Gammill, Skyler Hargrove and Kyle Hargrove. He is survived by four great grandchildren: Jadyn, Ava, and Hadley Helm and Peyton Gamill. Mr. Franks is also survived by one brother, Bill and wife Sandy. He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Jami Tala Helm. A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m., on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Franks home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alyce Cordray-Green, NARFE/Alzheimers Coordinator, 511 South Thompson St, Vinita, OK 74301-4639.
