Donald LeRoy Bellamy, 76, of Nowata, passed away on August 22, 2021, in Nowata, Oklahoma. He was born in Nowata, Oklahoma, on October 15, 1944, to Howard Clinton and Maxine Elizabeth (Camden) Bellamy. Don graduated from Nowata High School with the class of 1963. He traveled on the road as a welder and had the opportunity to travel overseas for many years. Don was not afraid of getting his hands dirty and tackling any project that was in front of him. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, which led to many hobbies such as fishing, gardening and keep the chores done. He had a passion for gold mining and traveled to Colorado to mine for it. He even fabricated his own portable gold prospecting rig on a trailer and customized his own off road Dodge Ram Charger to be able to get to the mines. He was always willing to help anyone in various ways in which he could. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He always had a smile on his face and would wave at everyone. Don will be missed by all who knew him.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Howard, and Maxine Bellamy; one great grandson Clyde Link.
Survivors include his three children; Donnell Holweg and husband Eric, Elizabeth Pravel and husband Kurt, Julie Swanson, and husband Kevin; three siblings, Barbara Tidwell, Sandy Hadley, Ralph Bellamy; seven grandchildren, Melissa Daniels, Jared Daniels, Emily Pravel, Craig Pravel, Justin Swanson, Kory Swanson, Max Swanson and six great grandchildren.
Memorial services for Don Bellamy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Living Word Family Church in Nowata, OK. Burial will follow on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.
