Donald Guthrie

Donald Gene Guthrie, 68-year-old Nowata resident, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his home. Don was born November 15, 1940 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Arthur Mike Guthrie and Ida (Hodges) Guthrie. He grew up and attended schools in Nowata. After graduating, he served his country for nearly five years in the United States Army. On October 30, 1981, Mr. Guthrie married Janice K. Brady in Nowata. Mr. Guthrie worked as a Contract Driver for the United States Postal Service for 31 years. When he wasn't working, Mr. Guthrie enjoyed his racehorses and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Guthrie is survived by his wife Janice of the home; by his mother, Ida Guthrie of Nowata; by two daughters, Jolene and Robert Hagebusch of Nowata and Bobbi Doshier of Nowata; by one son, Mike and Shena Guthrie of Nowata; by three sisters, Karen and Ben Slack, Kathy Aymer, and Kim and Kevin Taylor; by two grandchildren, Madison Hagebusch and Haili Guthrie; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
