Donald "Don" Smalley

Donald “Don” Leon Smalley, 77, passed away peacefully and went to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 10, 2022, in Nowata, Oklahoma.

Don was born on December 19, 1944, the son of Robert W. and Lillie Marie (Blanke) Smalley in Nowata, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Nowata area and graduated from Nowata High School. He met Charlotte A. Corle and the couple married on September 7 in Nowata, Oklahoma. The couple had two sons together: David and Michael. Don worked as a heavy equipment operator for Peabody Coal for several years, and later went to work for Nowata County as a grader operator until his retirement. He was proud of his retirement, and it could be said that Don had a very successful career. Don had several interests. He liked antique and old tractors, anything to do with mechanics, gardening, and operating heavy machinery. He also served in the National Guard. Don was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Lillie (Blanke) Smalley.

Don is survived by his wife; Charlotte, his sons; David Smalley and wife, Whitney and Michael Smalley and wife, Charlotte R, his grandchildren; Robyn and Logan Allen, Chasin Smalley, Bridget Smalley, Kate Smalley, and Sarah Smalley, and one great-grandchild; Afton Allen, along with other members of the family and a host of friends.
