Doris Ann Miller, age 79, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Hillcrest Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born September 27, 1937 in Delaware, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Benjamin Dow Edinger and Opal Rozella (Fair) Edinger. Doris was a graduate of Delaware high school. During those school years, she enjoyed classes such as typing and shorthand and she was a member of the high school basketball team. Lifelong, Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles. She had many interests in life, but she especially loved horses, having raised several race horses. Doris attended the Nowata United Methodist Church. She was always known as a strong, smart woman. Doris is survived by two children, Steven Miller and his wife, Michelle, of Nowata, Oklahoma, and Eric Miller and his wife, Niki, of Delaware, Oklahoma; two brothers, Jerry Edinger of Austin, Texas, and Richard Edinger and his wife, Marcia, of Delaware, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Matt Miller, Patrick Miller and his wife, Elise, and Ethan Miller; her dog, Sassy; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Opal; her spouse, Max Glen Miller; and a brother, Glennen "Leon" Edinger. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 24, at Benjamin Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 25, at Martin Cemetery. Pastor Jeffrey Rickman will officiate. Memorials in Doris' name may be sent to the Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District at 6601 E. 400 Rd. Oologah, OK 74053.
