South Coffeyville, Oklahoma

Doris Lea Stamper 85, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed away on April 12, 2025, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma with her daughter by her side.

Doris was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was born at Snow Creek in Oklahoma on May 8, 1939, to Russell "Bob" Miller and Erma (Woodall) Miller. Doris graduated from Lenapah High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Walter "Leon" Stamper on July 1, 1957. She worked at Funk's Manufacturing for many years before opening the D & J Ceramic Shop in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was a lover of all things beauty, and was a proud Mary Kay sales representative for many years. As a young grandma, she also attended John Casablancas modeling school in Tulsa, and always took pride in her appearance.

Doris and Leon had two daughters, Debra (Stamper) Knisley, and Jody (Stamper) Kitch. They were proud grandparents to three grandchildren, whom Doris adored, Lacey (Kitch) Redmond and husband John of Tampa, FL, Amber (Kitch) Lopez and husband Miguel of South Coffeyville, OK, and Branden O'Connell and fiance Alisen of South Coffeyville, Ok. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren and one more on the way, Braylon, Omari, Gabriel, Caelan, Khloe, Kason, and Addie Jo. Doris enjoyed cooking for her entire family during the holidays. She always looked forward to quality time spent with her friends and loved ones. She took great care in tending to her rose bushes, always giving them the time and care to bloom beautifully.

Doris is survived by her husband Leon Stamper of the home, one daughter Jody Kitch, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Bob & Erma Miller, two brothers C.R. Miller and Joe Miller, and her beloved daughter Debra (Debbie) Knisley.

Doris's request was for cremation to take place under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service, and for her family to hold a private family service. A final place of remembrance will be in Martin Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her parents and daughter. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Anderson Mehrle, Gretchen Snider, APRN, Dr. Caughell, as well as Dr. Carson, Dr. Smith, and Dr. Love at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
