Elizabeth Rathjen

Elizabeth Jean "Bette" Rathjen, Grove resident, died Friday February 11, 2011 at the age of 86 years. She was born October 7, 1924 to her parents Albert H. and Marguriete (McCadden) Fortner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City. Bette married the love of her life, O. Harry Rathjen on January 10, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas. After her husband's retirement, the became residents of Holiday Island, Arkansas for over 20 years before moving to Grove in 2003 to be near their daughter, Becky Adair. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, O. Harry Rathjen, her sister, JoAnn Fortner. Bette leaves many loving memories with her family, son, Stan Rathjen and wife Marsha; daughter Becky Adair and husband Gary, and Susan Romigh and husband EJ; brothers, Keith Rathjen and wife Kathleen, Marvin Rathjen and wife Beverly; sister Evelyn Nelson and husband Bob; grandchildren Jennifer Rathjen, Travis Adair and wife Adrienne, and Amy Waldron and husband Andrew; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Alexander and Zachary; as well as many other loving relatives. Visitation will be held 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday February 15, 2011 at Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday February 16, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Memorials may be made in Bette's name to the Grove Humane Society. Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
