Evert Rowan

Evert Eugene Rowan, 74, of Afton, Oklahoma went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2009 in McAllen, Texas. Evert was born June 4, 1934 in Ames, Oklahoma to Ralph Henry and Margaret (Kuschner) Rowan. Evert spent his early years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On April 20, 1956, Evert married Jean Ann Bowen in Welch, Oklahoma. They made a wonderful life together rearing four sons. In 1980, Evert and Jean purchased Fisherman's Paradise and operated it until 1996. Evert also installed ceramic tile as "The Tile Man" for 40 years, retiring in 1998. Evert was a member of the Grove Moose Lodge and Grand Lake Baptist Church in Grove. Evert was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and boating. Evert was a very loving husband. His four sons were his pride and joy and his 15 grandchildren were the lights of his life. His close-knit family will sorely miss him. Evert was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph Rowan, Jr., Fred Rowan, C.L. Rowan, and his twin sisters, Helen Rowan and Ellen Naus. Evert is survived by his wife Jean Rowan of Afton; four sons, Terry Eugene Rowan and his wife Paula of Owasso, Oklahoma, Martin Wayne Rowan and his wife Claudette of Owasso, Oklahoma, Ronald Boyd Rowan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and William Robert Rowan and his wife Kim of Bentonville, Arkansas; one brother, Bob Rowan and his wife Imogene of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of niece and nephews. The funeral for Evert will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Grand Lake Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma with Rev. Larry Moore officiating.
