Floyd “Gene” Eugene Buster Sr., 83, a life-long resident of Nowata passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Gene was born March 7, 1938, in Nowata, Oklahoma to Floyd and Leola (Lakey) Buster. On December 1, 1980, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Helen McFarland in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He graduated from Nowata High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy with twelve years of service. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, he worked as a wrecker man for the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific railroad many years. Gene was not afraid of getting his hands dirty and tackling any project that was in front of him. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, which led to many hobbies such as fishing, camping, riding four wheelers and motorcycles with the grandchildren. Above all Gene was a loving family man. He delighted in caring for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family held a very special place in his heart and Gene will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew him.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd, and Leola Buster; four siblings, Everett Buster, David Buster Joyce Hughes, Earl Buster, and one grandson Terry Reeder II.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Buster of the home; six children, Floyd Buster Jr. of Tulsa, OK, Donna Jo Renfro and husband Jeff of Claremore, OK, Joanie Cauthon and husband Terry of Nixa, MO, Robert Reeder and wife Sandy of Caney, KS, Terry Reeder and ex-wife Becky of Nowata, OK, Becki Reeder and husband James of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister Patricia King; fourteen grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren, his Winnie dog “Rascal” , other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Hillside Christian Church in Nowata, OK, with Pastor Van Longbons officiating.
