Gary Lee Bennett

Gary Lee Bennett,85, of Nowata Oklahoma passed away on October 14, 2024 in Nowata. He was born March 31, 1939, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Merle and Phyllis Oster Bennett. Gary served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. In 1962, Gary married Barbara LeFan and they settled in Santa Barbara, California and had two children Eric and Cherie (Begg). 

 He enjoyed motocross, drag racing, and watching professional tennis - especially Women’s tennis. Gary was in a bowling league and enjoyed the fellowship of other bowlers. He was a very good ping-pong player, and was a strong competitor.

 Gary was a very kind and likable guy and will be missed by all who knew him. Proceeding Mr. Bennett in death are his parents Merle and Phyllis Bennett, a son Eric Bennett, grandson‘s Christopher and James Begg, and his brother, Merle Bennett.

 Survivors include his daughter, Cherie Begg and her husband Joe Claypool; his grandson Tanner Begg, great grandsons Cooper and Oakland Begg; a sister, Joyce Christi, other relatives and a host of friends.

 A celebration of life for Mr. Bennett will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, October 22, 2023 at Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel, 114 W. Cherokee, Nowata, Oklahoma.
