Gary Lee Kiser was born on December 24, 1948, in Nowata, Oklahoma, to Richard and Bobbie Kiser. He passed away on August 7, 2023, at the age of 74.
Gary was a lifetime Nowata area resident and graduated from Nowata High School in 1967. During school, he was involved in football and baseball. He went on to attend NEO for a short time until being drafted in 1968 to Fort Polk. He was later honorably discharged due to a football injury. After returning home he married Linda Pierce on August 23, 1969.Gary worked in the oil field beside his dad for several years. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum for 5 years before joining the insurance industry. He was currently working for Farm Bureau with over 35 years of service.
Gary learned to play bass guitar at an early age and was something that he enjoyed throughout the years. He was a member of the Nowata Round-Up Club for many years. Also, coaching several little league teams over the years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golf, lawn mower racing (anything Dusty or grandkids were doing). He enjoyed doing anything that involved family.
Gary was preceded in death by daughter: Lori Kiser-Acuff; parents: Richard and Bobbie Kiser, in-laws: John and Virginia Pierce. He is survived by wife, Linda Kiser; son: Dusty Kiser and wife, Heather; son in law: Terry Acuff; grandchildren: Braden Kiser, Emmah Burrows, Cayman Kiser, Brylee Kiser, Hollis Acuff, and Coyle Kiser; Sisters: Connie and Mike Dye and Beverly Kiser; Brother and sister-in-law: Johnnie and Jenifer Pierce; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Gary Kiser will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the First Church of God in Nowata, Oklahoma, with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. There will be a visitation on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel in Nowata from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm with the family receiving friends.
