Geneva Hobbs

HOBBS, Geneva Ann Clayton - Age 84, passed away September 25, 2006, in Nashville, TN. Preceded in death by her loving husband, William H. (Bill) Hobbs in 1982. Mrs. Hobbs, a direct descendant of Nancy Ward, Beloved Woman of the Cherokee, was born in Chelsea, Oklahoma on Sept. 12, 1922 to Benjamin and Sarah Elizabeth Parks Clayton. She was the 7th of 8 children, all of who are deceased. She was Valedictorian of her Nowata High School graduating class and attended Coffeyville Junior College, where she met Bill. They married on her birthday in 1943 in Wichita, KS, where they both worked for Boeing and moved to Bartlesville in 1948 when Phillips Petroleum Co hired Bill. Mrs. Hobbs worked the switchboard for Jane Phillips Hospital before going to work for Phillips in 1956, where she worked in Public Relations and retired in 1980. During her years at Phillips, she was a member of the Jane Phillips Sorority, Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church. In her later years, she was a member of the "Cheers" bunch at Mr. Limey Fish & Chips, attended arts & crafts classes at the Adult Center in Dewey and was a helper in art classes at Elder Care. Mrs. Hobbs moved to Nashville in May, 2003, when her health began to fail. She is survived by daughters Barbara Ellen Goen (Gary) of De Soto, TX and Rebecca Ann (Becky) Hobbs (Duane Sciacqua) of Nashville, TN and 1 grandchild, Garrett Scott Goen (Kathy) of Cedar Hill, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Monday, October 2, 2006 in The Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home, 710 SE Dewey, Bartlesville, OK 74003 (tel. 918 336-5225) with Dr. Joe Dan Fowler of the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Coffeyville, KS. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5PM to 7PM at the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. On Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at 3:30PM, there will be a memorial service at Morningside of Belmont Assisted Living for residents and guests. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com .
