Jo Albert, 87, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Nowata. She was born October 19, 1927 in Eldorado, Kansas to John Franklin and Mary Grace (Starns) Hash. Jo's family moved to the Old Alluwe, Oklahoma area. She wrote letters to her sweetheart, Wesley William Albert, while he served during World War II. When he returned, the couple was married May 29, 1946 at Independence, Kansas. The Alberts moved to Punkin Center, east of Nowata, until Mr. Albert took a job with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. The couple moved back to Nowata in 1968. Jo was a seamstress, working for Marcus Manufacturing and later, self-employed. She was a member of the Nowata Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she was very active in her younger years. Her passion was spending time with her large family as well as propagating the iris population in her garden. Jo was known for her excellent quilting skills, too. Jo is survived by six children, Allen Albert of Nowata, Sherry Laughlin of Langley, Mary Jo Luton of Nowata, Sandy Buechek of Nowata, Johnny Albert of Washington, Larry Albert and his wife Ginger of Nowata; two brothers, Ben Hash and Huey Hash; three sisters, Cora Livingston of Nowata, Carolyn Robinson and Catherine Giles both of Montana, twenty grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren totaling over 100. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hash; her husband, Wesley William Albert; two children, Donnie Albert, Bennie Albert; two brothers, Bud Hash, Jimmy Hash and a sister, Elizabeth Wilson.
