ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - Gerald Leon Housman, age 88 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away in Jane Phillips Medical Center on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Gerald Leon "Jerry" Housman was born December 19, 1926. He was the son of Valentine "Vollie" Housman and Erma (Barlow) Housman. He grew up in Ottawa County, attending Spring River School and Miami, Oklahoma High School. He graduated high school from Wyandotte, Oklahoma. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended NEO in Miami and then Oklahoma A&M. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M with a B.S. in Engineering. After college, he was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in the Borger/Odessa, Texas areas. He also spent time living in North Dakota, Idaho and Canada, before coming to Bartlesville in the early 1970s. He married Kay and retired from Phillips Petroleum Company while continuing to make his residence in Bartlesville. He held the title of Professional Engineer. He enjoyed many things during his lifetime, some of which were spending time at his farm, driving the tractor and he even was able to graft his own pecan trees. He was interested in genealogy and enjoyed playing the stock market. He was very proud to be a member of the Ottawa tribe and even authored a book about the Ottawa Indian Cemetery which is in the Library of Congress. Most of all, however, he enjoyed being with his family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda "Kay" Housman of the family home; one daughter, Kristi Stanlis and her husband, Michael, of Aurora, Colorado; two grandchildren, Mark Stanlis and Nicholas Stanlis; three sisters, Betty Brubaker and her husband, Joe, of Melbourne, Florida, Wanda Loehr of Caldwell, Texas and Mary Draper and her husband, Wayne, of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jehu. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry's name may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 3292, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
