Gladys Marie (Taylor) Nichols 93, Nowata, resident left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 26, 2020 in Nowata, Oklahoma. Gladys was born on Sept. 18, 1927 in Oglesby, OK, to Jess and Lova (Gougler) Taylor. She attended Pleasant Valley School through the 8th grade and then graduated valedictorian from Ramona High School in 1945. In 2015, she was honored as the oldest alumni at the annual alumni reunion. The honor was well deserved because she was part of planning and forming the alumni association. Gladys went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company in 1945 and worked for the company until retiring in 1985. She moved to Nowata in 1975 and made her home. Throughout her life she was active in church serving as secretary, teaching Sunday School classes and participating in church activities. Gladys was always there for the family through good times and difficult times. She was well known among family and friends as a wonderful cook. She always had a love for the outdoors, garden fresh produce, and flowers. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gladys is proceeded in death by her parents Jess and Lova Taylor, eight siblings; Beulah Taylor, Emmabelle Pierce, Opal Hutton, Vernon Taylor, Bob Taylor, Tommy Taylor, Lester Taylor, David Taylor.
She is survived by three siblings; Mavis Cederberg, Paul Taylor (Gerri), Nancy Melendez (John) and many other families, friends and loved ones.
