Glendale Betz

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Glendale Betz, age 95 and longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away in Austin, Texas on March 5, 2016. Glendale was born on October 10, 1920 in Okeene, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jonas Betz and Vera (Pearson) Betz. He attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma receiving his B.S. in Engineering. Glendale and Marguerite Bishop were united in marriage on April 2, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Betz was a Captain in the U.S. Army and served in field artillery in the Phillipines during WWII. Glendale and Marguerite made their home at various U.S. Army bases and later moved to Borger, Texas in 1948 where he was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company. The couple moved to Bartlesville in 1954. Glendale's employment with Phillips moved the family to various places, including India, England, Germany and Nigeria. . The family returned to Bartlesville in the early 1980s and have made their home here since that time. Marguerite preceded Glendale in death on March 22, 2013. Glendale was a member of First Baptist Church, Bartlesville. He was a volunteer with various organizations, including the American Red Cross. One of Glendale's passions was overseeing the family farm in Okeene, which has been in the family since the 1890s. Survivors include two sons, Ron D. Betz of Austin, Texas and Len D. Betz of Los Angeles, California; two granddaughters, Shannon Grace Betz of New York City, New York and Adrienne Tyler Medley of San Antonio, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Ann Medley and Mairead Christine Medley, also of San Antonio. Glendale was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leon P. Betz; sister, Uldene V. Grisham; and his wife, Marguerite. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baptist Children's Home, 12700 E. 76th St. North, Owasso, OK 74055. Funeral services for Mr. Betz will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Biesiadecki will officiate with Father Jose Thottathil, assisting. Private family burial will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Okeene, Oklahoma. The family invites friends to stop by the family home in Bartlesville immediately following the service for an informal reception.
