March 8, 1941 — September 20, 2009

Leon Edinger 68, of Claremore passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa after his courageous battle with cancer. Leon was born on March 8, 1941 to Benjamin Dow Edinger and Opal Rozella (Fair) Edinger in Delaware, Oklahoma. He spent the majority of his younger years working on the farm with his family in Delaware. He attended Delaware Public Schools which he graduated from in 1959. Leon then entered the military where he served 8 years in the United States Army. He then began his career working for the United States Post Office until his retirement in 1992. Leon married the love of his life and soul mate Linda J. Compston in Delaware on February 5, 1965. Together they raised 3 wonderful children: Tom, Tim and Stacie. Leon took his family and settled in the rural Oologah area; they made countless dear and true friends over the next 40 years. Leon loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them every chance he got; he would always go and watch his grandchildren play sports. He liked to watch the horse races and could always give a good political debate. Leon was huge OSU fan, he loved his Cowboys; there was no need to watch the game you could hear him cheer from across the house and knew every play. Leon enjoyed the simplest things in life and the best things were being surrounded by his family and his companion dog Brittney. Leon was a man of great knowledge, the rock of which his family was built upon, he was strong, constant, reliable, loving, and a compass when you needed to be shown the right way. He was a man of many names, Leon, Husband, Dad, and his most cherished Papa. Leon is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Linda Edinger of the Home, his 2 sons Tom and his wife Kim Edinger of Claremore, and Tim Edinger of Bartlesville, his 2 daughters Stacie and her husband John Scavona of Tulsa, and Tiffany Harris of Claremore, 9 grandchildren: Colten, Trey, Taran, Alex, Jett, Summer, Reese, Christopher, and Charidee, 2 brothers Jerry Edinger of Austin, TX, Richard and his wife Marcia Edinger of Delaware, 1 sister Doris Miller of Claremore, and numerous other extended family member and several friends.
