Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma........ Harold E. "Sam" Douglas left this world on May 6, 2015 to be united with his Heavenly Father. He was born November 6, 1932 in Lenapah, Oklahoma to Tom Douglas and Ruth White Douglas. Sam was raised in Lenapah, graduating from Lenapah High School in 1949. He joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. After his Honorable Discharge he joined the US Army Reserves and served for 3 years. Sam married Marie Rogers in 1955 and had two sons, Lawrence and Donald. In 1959 he married Norma Jean Berry and had two sons, Charles and David. Sam married Janene Hamm in 1982. After serving in the US Army, Sam lived in Broken Arrow and worked for a glass plant for a few years. He moved back to Lenapah and went to work for Phillips 66 in 1966. Sam was given many awards for his years of service. An article was published in the Bartlesville paper in 1990 telling about his accomplishments with the company and that he had driven over one million miles as a chauffeur for Phillips. Sam was loved by many people throughout his years of employment. Sam retired in 1999 from Phillips 66 after 33 years of employment. He and Janene moved to Wyandotte, OK where they enjoyed fishing, quilting, craft making and bird watching. They traveled many miles over the United States, visiting almost every state throughout their travels. After Janene passed away in 2007, Sam continued to be active in his hobbies and the Church of Christ in Grove. Sam is known for being a good man that loved the Lord and a man that was always willing to help anyone that needed it. He helped people at the nursing home, his neighbors and even workers at the local Arby's restaurant where he ate every day. Sam is survived by his sons, Lawrence Douglas and wife Sally of Blue Springs, MO, Charles Douglas of Tulsa, Donald Douglas and his wife Debbie of Copan, Ok. and David Douglas and is wife Kim of Toronto, KS. His sister Shirley Ellis of Tulsa, brother Ralph Douglas of Lenapah, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and one great -great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanie Douglas and his wife Janene Douglas, one brother John Douglas and one sister Marie Carnegie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Rivercross Hospic 2301 SE Washington Blvd. #C Bartlesville, Ok. 74006. (please put in memory of Harold "Sam" Douglas in memo line of your check) Visitation will be held Friday May 8, 2015 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Home 114 W Cherokee Ave. Nowata, Ok. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 9, 2015 at Benjamin Funeral Home Nowata, OK, with interment following at Mount Washington Cemetery Lenapah, Ok. Brother Ray Witty will perform the services. Pallbearers will be Brock Clark, Brett Barrett, Randy Douglas, Att Ellis, Adam LaVasseur, and David Prather.
