Helen Burke

Helen Lavonne Burke, age 88 died Monday October 31, 2011 at Shady Rest Nursing Home at Pryor. She was born September 28, 1923 in Tulsa, OK the daughter of Henry Brady and Ethel Jewell Francis Brady. She was raised and educated in Tulsa and married Elbert Roy Burke Sr. in 1942. They made their home in Tulsa where she attended the Members in Christ Pentecostal Church. Helen enjoyed driving and counting rabbits, camping, collecting dolls. She loved playing Pac Man, painting saw blades, but mostly she loved spending time with her family and being a mother and grandmother. Survivors include five children, Roy Burke Jr. of Broken Arrow, OK, Jewell Bailey of Jay, OK, Dan Burke of Berryhill, OK, Amelia Vernon of Jay, OK and Toby Roley of Jay, OK, twenty two grandchildren and numerous great and great - great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, a daughter Elizabeth Ann, a grand son, Timmy and several brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be Thursday November 3, 2011 at Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Johnny Scott officiating. Committal services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home.
