Howard J. Carr Graveside funeral services for Howard Carr will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday October 10, 2006, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Home, of Nowata. Howard Jesse Carr was born February 11, 1915, in Centralia, Oklahoma, to John Griffin and Tennessee (Nunnalee) Carr. He passed from this life Sunday, October 08, 2006, at Nowata Jane Phillips Health Center, after reaching 91 years, 7 months, and 15 days. In 1939 he married Virginia E. Brown in Bartlesville. Of this union came two children, Phyllis and Hazel. He was a brick mason, by trade, and worked on many construction sites in and around Nowata, County. Mr. Carr loved to garden. He had some of the best looking and producing gardens in Nowata. His grandchildren were very special to him and brought him much happiness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nowata. Preceding Mr. Carr in death are his parents, John and Tennessee Carr; daughter, Phyllis Ann Smith; brothers Griff, Art, and Earl Carr; sisters, Hazel Carr, and Nanny Chanley. Surviving Mr. Carr are his daughter Hazel Nan Weaver, and her husband Leon, of Nowata; grandchildren, Dustin Weaver, Tawn Stewart, and her husband David; great grandchildren, Jennifer Trotter, and husband Shawn, Chad Richards; great-great grandchild, Michael Patyon Trotter, many other relatives friends and loved ones.
