James Whitfield

James Franklin "Jimmy" Whitfield 73 year old Vinita resident, died Saturday, October 26, 2013. He was born on March 22, 1940 in Vinita to Henry Whitfield, Sr. and Dora (Han) Whitfield. He married Marilyn Gayle (Stafford) Whitfield on April 14, 2000 in Eureka Springs Arkansas. Jimmy moved back to Vinita in 1996 from Tulsa, He went to work for the Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center in Vinita as a Security Officer. He retired in 2010 from the Department of Corrections. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was of the Christian faith. The family includes; his wife Marilyn, his children, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. The funeral service will be held Thursday October 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel, with Chaplain Vernell Bell officiating.
