James Gray

James William Gray, age 83, a resident of Langley, Ok died Wednesday October 15, 2008 at the Veterans Medical Center in Muskogee, OK. He was born November 28, 1924 in Anadarko, Ok the son of James L. Gray and Bertha Francis Rainey Gray. He was reared and received his formal education in Anadarko then served in the U.S. Army during WW11 and was serving in Manila at the beginning of the war. He moved to Langley in 1948 where he was the owner operator of Gray's Garage and Wrecker service for over twenty five years and also served as the Langley Fire Chief for fifteen years. He and Laura Jean Trice were united in Marriage on November 19, 1962 in Miami, OK. They enjoyed square dancing and danced with the Grand Lake Swingers. He was an avid Gardner, raising Roses and vegetables, also he enjoyed woodworking, James was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Lori Gray Hudson. He is survived by his wife Laura Jean of the home, seven children, Calvin and Charlene Gray of Langley, George and Kellie Gray of Langley, Nelda and Darvin Selley, and Naomi Gray both of Oklahoma City, OK, Beth Davis, Pat and Lee Robinson, and Kathy Gray all of Langley, OK, two sisters, Ruth Harris of Mineral Wells, Texas and Virginia Gray of Tulsa, OK, sixteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Saturday October 18, 2008 in the First Christian Church in Langley at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joel S. Rutherford officiating with interment to follow in the Spavanaw - Strang Cemetery under the direction of the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6: 00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
