Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Janice Irene Edwards, 77, of Nowata, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at her home. She was born September 24, 1937 in Muskogee to Calvin and Daisy (Reynolds) Herndon. Most of her education was in the Claremore School System but she moved back to Muskogee and graduated from Muskogee High School. She continued her education and earned a LPN certificate from Muskogee Hospital. She earned an associate's degree in nursing and then later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. On December 16, 1955 she married Ray Edwards in El Reno, Oklahoma. In 1956 she and Ray moved to Nowata where they have lived since. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She also loved to read and travel. Above all she loved her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Janice is survived by her husband, Ray of the home; two children, Kelly Edwards of Nowata, Jon Edwards and his wife Carol of Collinsville; four grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Taylor Edwards, Andrew Parrett, Sarah Kline, and ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Daisy Reynolds; a son, Phillip Edwards, and a grandson Wylie Christian.
