Family will be receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Benjamin Funeral Service. Jerry Dale "Bear" Gering, Jr., 42, was born January 27, 1975 in Nowata to Jerry Dale Sr. and Sara A. (Manley) Gering. Bear was a 1992 graduate of Nowata High School and attended one year of college in Lawrence, Kansas. Bear worked in the Oil and gas industry as a pipefitter for Local Union #698 in Tulsa. He enjoyed fishing, working on his Blazer, and was very artistic. He also liked to paint. Bear loved his family very much and loved spending time with them. Bear will truly be missed by his family and friends. Bear is survived by his mother, Sara of Nowata; four sisters, Sherri Bell and her husband Paul, of Terrell, Texas, Ruby Hunter and her husband Rick of Nowata, Oklahoma, Sandra Harrelson and her husband Jimmy, of Terrell, Texas, Sherry Wilson and her husband Jim of Nowata, Oklahoma; two brothers, Robert Maggard and his wife Sandy of Nowata, Oklahoma, Scott Gering of Nowata, Oklahoma, several nieces, nephews, family, and many friends.
