Jesse “Duke” Porter, 80-year-old, Lenapah resident passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born on October 8, 1940, in Johnson County, Missouri to Frank and Beatrice Porter. He was employed with the Coffeyville Co-op for many years before retiring. Duke was known as the neighborhood handyman. Much of his work was at the master crafts and took pride in it. Duke could either fix it or rebuild it. His hobbies included arts, crafts, dancing and tinkering with his RC cars. He enjoyed western movies and listening to music. Duke had a talent for making friends wherever he went with his ability to tell a good story, his generosity and big heart. He spent his last years at Osage Nursing Home and was a big part of the nursing home family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Beatrice Porter.
He is survived by his best friends Caitlin Mayhew, Tammy Swalley, Davene Mayhew and any other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June4, 2021 at the Benjamin Funeral Home Chapel in Nowata, OK with Reverend Robert West officiating.
