Rev. Jimmie Dale Shamblin, 90-year-old longtime Wann resident, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 1, 1934, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Willis Jefferson and Mildred (Lamar) Shamblin. He married the love of his life, Julia Maye Chrisman on August 12, 1954, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma by Rev. White at Manifest independent Church of God.
Jimmie attended school in Coffeyville, Kansas graduating from Coffeyville High School. He later attended correspondence courses at Purdue University where he obtained an associate’s degree. He was ordained in 1968 with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee.
Jimmie raised cattle all his life as well as pastored churches, evangelized, and held many tent revivals. He was passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and seeing people give their hearts to him through salvation. In addition to his ministerial vocation, Jimmie owned and operated HiTest Termite and Pest Control for over 70 years until his retirement in 1998.
Jimmie was an avid basketball fan and never missed a basketball game in Wann. He faithfully attended grade school, junior high, and high school games and was known to storm the locker room and give an impromptu “pep talk” if the players were not performing to their full capabilities. He loved his kids and grandkids dearly and cherished the trips to Nashville with Joyce.
Jimmie is survived by his daughters, Joyce and husband, Leslie, of the home, and Debbie Morris of Wann; grandchildren, Christopher Ramey of Wann, Michael Reed of Wann, Julie Ramey of Copan, Timmy Reed of Wichita, Kansas, Donald Reed of Wichita, Kansas, Rebecca Shepherd and husband, Tommy, of Wann; great-grandchildren, Katie Ramey, Nathan Ramey and fiancé, Abby Caruthers, Dakota Ramey, and Gracie Shepherd; brother, Jack Shamblin; and caregiver, Mandi Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; parents; brother, Gerald Dean Shamblin; sister, Zora Francis Clark Reese; and son-in-law, Russell Morris.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Wann Community Center with Bro. Marvin Penrod officiating. Interment will follow in the Robbins Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas with Christopher Ramey, Dakota Ramey, Johnny Ramey, Jamie Billups, Michael Reed, Donald Reed, and Tommy Shepherd serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Leslie Ramey, Steve Miller, Justin Martin.
