Joanne Adams

Mrs. Adams was born August 11, 1928 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Orville Ramsey and Olga Shupe-Ramsey. She grew up in the Pawnee area where she also attended schools. On December 17, 1948 she married Jack Adams in Perry, Oklahoma. The two located to the Enid area where Mrs. Adams worked for Failing Supply Company while also taking night accounting classes at Phillips University in Enid. In 1954, the couple came to the Nowata area where they have resided since. Mrs. Adams worked as a long distance telephone operator for several years and also as a teacher's aid in the Nowata Public Schools. She also served as the Jr. High Secretary. Mrs. Adams later found a position with the First National Bank where she worked until her retirement in December of 1990. Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Adams; by two sons, Daryl Adams of Independence, Kansas and Bryan Adams and wife Cindy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; by three daughters, Virginia Ware and husband John of Edmond, Janice Cooper and husband Greg of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lynda Adams of Claremore; by grandsons, Ryan Ware and wife Meredith of Abilene, Texas, Adam Cooper of Overland Park, Justin Adams of Baton Rouge, and Cory Adams of Baton Rouge; by granddaughters, Melissa Ware Dodson and husband Bart of Norman, Holly Cooper of Overland Park, Anna Cooper of Overland Park, Betsy Adams of Baton Rouge; and by one great-granddaughter, Blake Adalyn Ware of Abilene. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents and by her only sister Jeanne Dick. Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Hillside Christian Church with Ben Killion and Lynn Sullins officiating. Interment will follow in the Nowata Relocated Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7-9p.m., Monday, June 7, 2010.
