Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK 918-786-2261 --- John Leslie Smith Sr. 64 year old Miami, OK resident passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in Joplin, MO. John was born on December 5, 1949, in Afton, OK, to Willie Louis and Ada Grace (Baulch) Smith. He graduated from Afton High School and received a Bachelors' degree from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO. John married Barbara (Byrd) in Miami, OK, on April 25, 1970. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1979. John worked as a Research Lab Technician for Ozark Technical Ceramics. He enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed working on guns. John loved building, working on and programming computers. John is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; two daughter and two sons, Leslie Ann Williams and husband Frank of Miami, OK, John Leslie Smith Jr and wife Brandi of Baxter Springs, KS, Virginia Grace Kessel and husband John of Peoria, OK, and James Robert Smith and wife Lisa of Gresham, OR; one brother, Gary Buchanan and wife Katie of Jay, OK; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at 1:00 pm, at Hornet Christian Church in Seneca, MO. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton, OK. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
