John Woodard

John "Dick" Woodard, age 74, died Thursday March 18, 2010 at his home with all of his children at his bedside. He was born June 22, 1935 in Vinita the son of Sam and Lillie (Odell) Woodard. Dick attended Sacred Hearth Catholic Academy in Vinita and was a butcher in Vinita when he was young. He and Dixie Bogle were married on September 8, 1984 in Vinita, OK. She preceded him in death in June of 2009. Dickie retired as a roofing contractor after forty years and worked at the Vinita Senior Citizens Center for several years. He enjoyed fishing, searching for arrowheads, remodeling old houses and coon hunting, but mostly he enjoyed visits and spending time with his family and friends. Dickie leaves behind his children by his first marriage to Alice Nazworthy/Woodard. Daughters: Terry Abercrombie of Bluejacket, Connie and Johnson Shotpouch of Jay, Laqueta Praytor and Dieter Hollweg of Vinita. Son: Mike Woodard and Janelle Kirby of Eucha. Step Daughter Jannet Williams of Jay. 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grand children and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alfred, Charlie, LeeRoy and Bobby Lee. Sisters; Maggie Hicks, Pauline Whitebird, Maxine Harrell and Billye Dean Webb. Infant daughter Brenda Kay and one grandson and one son-in-law. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home on Tuesday March 23, 2010, with Rev. George Vaughn officiating with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday March 22, 2010 at the Funeral Home.
